To travel is to see life through different eyes
Alice Carim

Welcome to our travel blog!

It´s hard to imagine, that one year on the road is over. Although we didn´t plan more than a couple of month before departure, it now seems as if we have been waiting for years to fulfill a dream – and now it´s over. Was it the way as we expected? Yes and no. We already knew how life can be far away from home, outside our comfort zone but probably expected a bit more “real” adventures on the African continent like getting stuck in the mud, sitting at a campfire with natives, problems at the borders, situations where you have to improvise and solve problems… Africa appeared a bit to safe and uncomplicated, not as wild as we thought. At the same time we have to say that we had luck to not getting into any trouble. Furthermore we always tried to avoid complicated situations, which probably has to do with our age 🙂

Now after being home for 3 month, we are wondering what we experienced during those 12 weeks while living a normal life compared to what we experienced on the road? At the same time we don´t really feel like we are back to normal life. A strange feeling, that paralyzes us, sort of. We were looking forward to meeting our kids and cats, family and house again, we started working immediately and our car arrived safe in a container.

What comes next? No idea.
We just know that our heads are full of impressions that we have thousands of images we have taken, and now have to work with, before going somewhere else.

What we really appreciated was meeting other travelers who share the passion for traveling and adventures, had the same problems and discussions and made us feel as normal as we are and not as crazy as everybody at home said that we are. 🙂

Thanks to all of you who followed our blog. Please feel free to send us your comments, suggestions or constructive criticism. If you have any questions – we are happy to share our experiences.

All the best
